You should make a feature that allows you to change the site it pulls the “news” off of, to eg. GameMakerBlog.com.

Nice addition on the wheel up wheel down – this was a feature that was requested not long ago !

do you think it is possible to add more file handling options – seek at position, detect eof (end of file flag) – This would come in very handy if you want to hide some config information or game info inside a binary file or a dummy file and be able to extract some flags at specific points.

Also – Since the time between releases is quite long – what if someone finds more bugs eventually in the final – will it be possible for YYG to release updates (8.01) example or will all the future bugs be fixed only in 9.0?

I hope that the RESOLUTION CHANGE options for graphics are now fixed. If not, Please FIX this before release v.8. that is, when the game changes the resolution, the windows get moved… that is, CDS_FULLSCREEN is NOT specified in ChangeDisplaySettingsEx() API call…

Hope Mark fix this, so no longer the games move windows.

also, adding a function is_window_focused() is A MUST for proper display size/resolution handling.

I will post a BUG if I don’t see this fixed. However, the site is DOWN! So I can’t download the RC

Everytime I try to download the Release Candidate, Norman Security Suite detects a trojan W32/Startpage.IZY in the package. It’s very annoying, as I don’t see why the scanner sees this as malicious software.

Try this – Save the file to your hard drive – and upload it to a site called virustotal.com – it is an engine that contains a variety of anti-virus scanners, look for the more popular ones like norton, avira, etc, and see how many infected results out of the 36 I believe.

This is a problem that affects a lot of software including other programs like game maker. Because of the nature of the file which contains overlays / wrappers and embedded decrypters and decompressors, it is bound to cause false alarms – I have not downloaded this yet myself, so I assume it is not really infected just wait from the official word from YYG, but from my experience it is likely a false positive, just use virustotal and see – if it returns only a few positives it is most likely a false one!

    :)

I’ve deleted the link to the unauthorised download site. I realise that chances of the link containing a virus were limited, but, just in case I’m not prepared to risk the GM8 beta getting a reputation for viruses. We’ve almost finished rebuilding the official site will be back up on Monday. The server was completely hacked.

What about adding an optional “Staff pick \ King of Cagematch winner \ Official competition winner” tab to the game search ? That would help finding out some of the most beautiful games on the GMC.
