New Game Maker Beta(s)
In case you hadn’t noticed we posted a new version of GM4MAC recently and last weekend Mark posted the second release candidate of Game Maker 8. DON’T post asking when they’ll be released as we are still developing the necessary infrastructure on the website to support the final releases. It’s proving to be a big job, but you can be sure we’ll let you know as soon as this is ready !!!
Enjoy and don’t forget to provide feedback via the Beta Testing servers. We’re aware that there is one severe bug with the Mac version related to scaling images and we’re working hard to solve this. Meantime here’s a list of what’s fixed in the latest GM4Mac Release … refer to the beta server for more detailed info.

Cool. Thanks for the update!
I won`t ask about the release dates…
but if you could answer these questions I`d be very happy:
1. Are you going to wait until both GM8 & GMMac are complete for some kind of simultaneous launch?
2. If GM8 is complete, you won`t launch until the website stuff has been revamped, is that right?
3. Any progress on the export problems in GM8?
4. Any info on the logo?
PS: Glad to see more progress on the Mac version!

1. No, but it would be nice to do that.
2. Absolutely, we don’t want to use Softwrap again.
3. Mark tells me he has cleared all of the bugs….
4. Logo … Mark and I have missed our usual weekly calls for a couple of weeks…bad timing..we’re now back on track to get this closed…SORRY.

Thanks for the info. Good to see you’re alright, Sandy. Swine flu or anything like it is serious stuff and I hope you’ve made a full recovery.
Regarding the recent lapses in information, YYG isn’t looking very professional right now, and that’s really not good considering alot of us will be paying customers.

@EXPScoreBoy
Although you may want to wait, if you purchase Game Maker 7 this year, you will receive a free upgrade to Game Maker 8. If the price increases for outright purchase when Game Maker 8 comes out, you will be paying more because you decided to wait.

Groovy!
I appreciate those answers. Very happy to hear that those GM8 issues have been sorted!
Now, I`ll sit back & shut up.
Goodluck!

Sandy, may ask somethings about GM8?
You said that Mark has finished debugging GM8, so any chance we can get a date of when comes out?
I love GM so and i like something to look forward to, but I think I speak for all of us when I say that I hate not knowing when things are coming out. I know you can’t provide us with those details yet but how about Mark Overmars post some thing himself (If not I understand). At least next time you speak to Mark, ask him.

Jazco, there are a lot of reasons why they might not be able to say when the new stuff is coming out. Patience is a virtue, my friend. Let them put it out when it’s ready.

The “Main Page” of the “GM4Mac” Mantis page makes no reference to the November Beta. It only references the September one.
You can get the November release from:http://gm4mac.yoyogames.com/get/
But the November release claims to expire in a week and a half anyway.
These Betas are far to premature for Beta release, they are full of bugs that should easily be caught by the developer anyway.

how hard was it to totally re-write game maker into another language and what was the reason of doing so? PS. I love this website and game maker! How did you guys start off as?

Great to hear gm4mac is actually getting some attention! Maybe macs will get some decent games after all!
Any info yet if .gmk will work on gm4mac. I remember seeing someone ask that a few months ago, but forgot the answer.
Thanks for everything!
